Fin janvier, superannuation était sorti de son trou pour nous aiguiller vers un CV. Celui-ci révélait que le studio Maxis (Les Sims, SimCity, Spore) est au travail sur une simulation "triple-A", et les urbanistes en herbe ont alors caressé le doux rêve d’avoir un nouveau SimCity. Bonne nouvelle, il ne faudra pas attendre longtemps pour savoir de quoi il s'agit comme le confirme Erik Reynolds, le boss de la relation presse chez EA qui réagissait à l’ouverture du site EA Game Changer (le nom de la conférence d’EA du 6 mars lors de la GDC) :

Mayor ¿? How boring! All day at the office, holding the complaints of citizens and controlling the deficit: Who can see this as funny? For a lot of people thanks to SimCity, and for over two decades. Surprisingly, the urban series consists of five parts, from classic SimCity (1989) to the most recent SimCity Societies (2007). In addition, all games except Societies were developed by Maxis and designer Will Wright, co-founder of the study, we also have The Sims and Spore. Les premières informations concernant SimCity 5 nous parviennent alors qu'Electronic Arts n'a encore rien officialisé.

La rédac vous dit tout sur SimCity 5
S'il n'est encore rien d'officiel, l'information que nous présentions pas plus tard qu'hier semble aller bien plus loin que la simple rumeur. En effet, si l'on en croit nos confrères espagnols de Jimdo, le développement de SimCity 5 a carrément été présenté aux magazine allemand GameStar.

Ces derniers ont même eu l'opportunité de discuter avec Lucy Bradshaw, directrice générale de Maxis. On peut donc tout d'abord dire que le développement de SimCity 5 est bien une réalité. Le projet, vraisemblablement une exclusivité PC, est d'ailleurs annoncé pour 2013 alors que l'avancement du chantier en serait grosso-modo à 30%. Luc Bradshaw indique que le studio ne pouvait pas évoquer plus tôt ce nouvel opus car il était trop occupé sur d'autres projets liés à Spore et aux Sims.

Du côté de SimCity 5, il est notamment question d'employer un nouveau moteur maison, le Glassbox. Hélas, pas question pour Maxis de montrer le rendu de ce moteur pour le moment : les résultats ne seraient pas encore au niveau des attentes du studio qui préfère donc ne présenter que les quelques artworks dévoilés hier. Le Glassbox devrait cependant permettre un rendu plus moderne et s'il conserve l'aspect un peu particulier des artworks, il devrait être très agréable.

SimCity 5
Notons que SimCity 5 devrait enfin être l'occasion de rompre avec le tracé exclusivement orthogonal des routes. En revanche, il ne semble pas question de modifier ce qui fait la base du gameplay d'un SimCity : la division en trois types de zones, résidentielles, commerciales et industrielles. Il est question de davantage de détails dans les animations au moment de bâtir / remplir ces zones et d'options afin d'améliorer les bâtiments, de les personnaliser... Dans quelle mesure ? Mystère.

Enfin, notons que les développeurs parlent d'un mode multijoueur destiné à intégrer nos villes dans un réseau plus vaste permettant l'échange de matériaux. Là encore, les précisions ne sont pas nombreuses, mais ces échanges devraient conditionner le développement et l'orientation de nos villes alors qu'il sera par exemple possible de se spécialiser dans la production d'électricité afin d'alimenter les villes voisines.

Alors qu'Electronic Arts prépare, mardi prochain, un événement en marge de la Game Developers Conference, nous espérons obtenir quelques informations supplémentaires et une officialisation en bonne et due forme de ce SimCity 5.

je pense que ce jeu apportera une qualité graphique supérieur mais une niveau de la jouabilité sa ne changera pas enfin a voir Very Happy

J'ai déjà vu beaucoup de jeux qui nous promettait le rêve mais qui, au final, se relevaient êtrev moyens.
